BabelUp

BabelUp's goal is to encourage discussion of global issues and foster interest in them, with the hope that this will lead to increased social action and a better world as a result. A plethora of communication tools are available for this purpose, and our educational and service resources are always growing. The highly social aspect of BabelUp makes it a close community of people who care about issues, and it also invites young people who are not yet concerned with issues on a global scale. BabelUp hopes that as this second category begins to explore the rest of the site's features, a conflict or problem will present itself that perturbs and interests them. This new discovery and willingness to take action is assisted by BabelUp's resources, which allow users to immerse themselves in any topic, discuss solutions with people sharing the same concerns, and hopefully do something about the issue. BabelUp's philosophy is that information and discussion breeds solutions and intellectual enlightenment.

BabelUp uses Drupal to its ultimate extent. With about 60 modules in use, BabelUp users have an unprecedented amount of flexibility available.

BabelUp is currently in early "open beta." That means it is feature-complete with the exception of translations, but it will likely be entirely redesigned, and some features may be removed.
