UseBB is a pretty basic forum package. It pretty much does what a forum is supposed to - register users, topics, replies. Nothing fancy. (And not a lot of bulk in the download, either.)
But UseBB2 is starting to see the light of day... slowly. An alpha version was made available on subversion a couple months ago and the developer, Dietrich, plans on doing some coding on it this year.
If you're looking for a light weight forum system without the bloat of phpbb or SMF but don't like the looks of Vanilla or bbPress, think about giving UseBB a try.
