The Soap Opera Network site uses Joomla! to manage news related to US soap operas. Content is divided into News, Prevues, and Events. There’s an area for ‘top’ stories (top left) and recent articles.

The community aspect is handled through Invision Power Board.

Throng is one of those sites where you look at it and say, “Can Drupal really do that?” It’s a tv-guide-like site for New Zealand with a community component build in. It seems that the community page is using the Views module to aggregate posts in different topics.
